Dina DeMille isn’t your typical Bed and Breakfast owner. Her inn defies laws of physics, her dog is secretly a monster, and the only permanent guest of the inn is a former Galactic tyrant with a price on her head. The inn needs guests to thrive and guests have been scarce, so when an Arbitrator shows up at Dina’s door and asks her to host a peace summit between three warring species, she jumps on the chance. Unfortunately, for Dina, bridging the gap between space vampires, the Hope-Crushing Horde, and the merchants of Baha-char is much easier said than done. To make the summit a success, she must find a chef, remodel the inn, keep her guests from murdering each other, and risk everything, even her life, to save the man she might fall in love with. But then it’s all in the day’s work for an Innkeeper.…

Would’ve been 5 stars, had we seen more of Sean… We do get to see him, but not as one would imagine him, since he is supposed to be the hero in this series. Mildly said I was quite surprised to find out what he’s been doing since he left Earth. And not in a good way… But that just gave more opportunities for Arland to grow on you.
I liked this book more that the first one. More things were clearer and I felt like the plot evolved. It’s not just about protecting the inn and keeping the secret that aliens do exist from humans, now the stakes are much higher. It’s about finding peace between three nations that basically just wan’t to kill each other for one reason or another. And of course Dina is smack right in the middle of it all. As in innkeeper and also as a loyal friend. Doing the almost impossible thing is by now Dina’s speciality. But with Caldenia and Orro things can’t fail.
That being said, I wasn’t a big fan of George’s. He will get what he wants at all costs. It will destroy his soul but he will still do everything in his power to achieve his goal. That also means he’s no stranger to manipulation at it highest level. You could say being friends with a guy like him is not easy. But somehow, by the end of the book (and especially in third book) he grew on me. I still don’t trust him but we are on a good way to become friendly with each other. And that’s more than I can say about the other not so pleasant characters.
All in all, this series is on a fast track to become one of my favourites. Let’s hope I can say that by the end of the third book.
